the 1950's, Chevrolet visited dealerships with their "Road Show", wowing the public with displays of cut-away cars and new features. Around 1953 the Chevrolet Road Show came to Lexington, Virginia, hosted by Woody Chevrolet.
In 1956 Woody Chevrolet signed the dealership agreement with Chevrolet and Oldsmobile. Around this time Taylor Woody joined his dad after serving in the US Army.
In 1963 Dorcas Campbell was crowned Miss Virginia. Taylor Woody, shown in the photo with Miss Virginia, was instrumental in providing a new car for each Miss Virginia to drive for a year thereafter. The car provided in 1963 was a new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
As word spread about the exceptional service and dedicated staff, the dealership continued to grow. Woody Chevrolet moved to Route 60 East of Lexington in 1981.
The New Woody Chevrolet was built in 1999 to accommodate increasing business. Woody's is currently owned and operated by Taylor Woody and sons T G Woody and Will Woody. Grandson Tom Woody is part of the sales staff.
