Ford commemorated the production of its 300 millionth vehicle – a 2004 Ford 40th Anniversary Mustang GT convertible – by bringing back the $5-day/ $150-month 48-month Mustang lease for a limited time.

The $5-day figures prominently in the company's history since it was Henry Ford who introduced the $5-day wage and the 40-hour work week back in 1914. The first $5-day Mustang lease, which ran from April 2 until Ford's centennial on June 16, helped drive a 30 percent increase in Mustang sales. Today, Mustang continues to lead the sports-car segment with more than 40 percent market share.

"Our centennial and the $5-day lease tapped into an incredible reserve of goodwill for Ford and a deep well of Mustang excitement," said Steve Lyons, president of Ford Division. "Today we have three milestones coming together: the closing days of Ford's centennial, our 300 millionth vehicle and Mustang's 40th birthday, so it seemed fitting to bring the $5-day back one more time."

Under the lease program, customers can lease a well-equipped Ford Mustang V-6 coupe for $5 a day/$150 a month for 48 months with $2,796 due at signing which includes a security deposit and acquisition fee and excludes taxes, title and license fee*. Mustang V-6 convertibles, GT coupes and convertibles and the Mustang Mach 1 are available for slightly higher amounts.

Customers who purchase their vehicle may opt for cash incentives of $3,000 or zero percent financing for up to 60 months** on all 2004 Mustangs (excluding SVT Cobra). These programs expire on Jan. 13, 2004. Mustang is priced from $17,865 for the V-6 coupe to $28,900 for the GT convertible***.
